Project Description

The USAID-funded Vector Control project supports the President’s initiative on Malaria (PMI) as well as USAID Missions and Bureaus with malaria programs outside the PMI focus countries in performing high-quality spraying programs and collecting entomological vector control data in world wide. Under this contract, Abt will expand entomological surveillance to guide programs focused on insecticide-treated nets and intra-home sprays and will continue to help PMI reduce the burden of malaria through capacity building in 22 African countries where malaria is endemic.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Senegal Logistic Coordinator, the Senegal Central Warehouse Storekeeper will be based in Kaolack and provide support for the management of the Central warehouse in Kaolack.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Storage and inventory management

  • Perform efficient warehousing and warehouse inventory management operations by ensuring full compliance with standard warehousing requirements
  • Update the inventory by ensuring that the inventory book and the stock cards are updated in real time each time a stock operation occurs
  • Ensure that the store is clean, organized and well maintained according to warehousing standards
  • Ensure compliance with product preservation standards and conditions
  • Ensure the monitoring and implementation of activities relating to the maintenance and management of the warehouse
  • Take the temperature and humidity levels daily on the physical sheets and sent to the Logistic Coordinator every week
  • Keep damaged or expired stock records. Isolate damaged or expired stocks in a physical location away from the main storage area
  • Examine and check the items in stock monthly and report of damages to the Logistic Coordinator

Reception of items

  • Prepare arrivals and reception of products of the VL Senegal project and the organization of unloading of items
  • Verify the content of items received/delivered to the warehouse and compare with the delivery records, invoice to ensure accuracy
  • Record data, such as items and quantities received, damage or deviations for reporting purposes, accounting and record keeping and keep minutes signed by the receiving committee
  • Ensure the recording of each item in the register and stock cards
  • Record precisely and without erasing the articles and quantities received in the inventory book
  • Report problems such as damage, shortages or non-compliance on the report

Dispatching and delivery of items

  • Prepare the dispatching of orders and / or transfers upon receipt of the authorized Stock Order Form
  • Ensure that the stock registers and stock cards are updated with each dispatching
  • Ensure compliance with the FEFO (First Expired First Out) rule with each stock movement
  • Prepare materials for dispatching and delivery by placing them in the transit area for loading
  • Organize work for loading if necessary
  • Record carefully and without deleting the quantities shipped in the inventory book

Preferred Qualifications

  • Secondary School (Baccalaureate degree minimum)
  • Have at least two (02) to three (03) years of professional experience, including at least two (2) years in an international NGO as a storekeeper
  • Have specific knowledge on malaria vector control products
  • Fluency in French and have a good command of English
  • Knowledge of computers software especially Excel
  • Have good interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • (1) year of experience and high school diploma OR the equivalent combination of education and experience
