Job description

The U.S. Mission in Dakar/ Senegal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Chauffeur.

The incumbent operates safely and efficiently an unarmored U.S. Government-owned or leased motor vehicle to transport passengers within the city and the surrounding areas.  Performs clerical and messenger duties in support of the Office of Agricultural Affairs (OAA) in Senegal/Dakar.

Job requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of professional driving experience plus at least six (6) months of clerical work experience is required.
  • Must have general knowledge of the Mission organization, USDA procedures and regulations, and routine office functions.
  • Oral and written instructions from supervisor, as well as FAM/FAH vehicle operation related guidelines. Safety regulations and vehicle manuals.
  • Must be familiar with local traffic rules and regulations of the host country; knowledge of the city and its environment, including driving routes and traffic patterns.
  • English level II (Limited knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
  • French level III (Good Working Knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.

Skills

  • The incumbent must have the ability to read maps and plan driving routes.
  • He/she must have good  communication skills.
  • Must highly professional and discrete.
  • Must be able to perform basic vehicle inspection and must possess intermediate level automotive maintenance skills.
  • Must have be proficient in Microsoft Office to complete data entry, and maintain reports.
  • Must have basic numerical skills to estimate the fuel consumption and/or need for trips.
  • Must hold a valid, current license for cars Must have had a valid driver’s license for a minimum of five (5) years.
  • Must be able to support team in office setting with a variety of administrative tasks and learn to operate online administrative systems.
